Following the events of Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka the Penguin, is making a play to seize the reins of Gotham’s crime world. Aside from a bat-sniffing scene in the final shot of the season finale, we never got a Robert Pattinson cameo in «The Penguin.» In this short video, IMDb tries to answer: Where the hell was Batman? Colin Farrell fought hard to make The Penguin smoke tobacco in Batman (2022), but he didn’t succeed. In his own series, however, the character is depicted as a casual tobacco user, preferring to smoke cigars.
It fit the tone and mood perfectly
An umbrella falls and the emblem turns into the Warner Bros. logo. He starred in Graham Norton and Gosti: Lady Gaga/Demi Moore/Colin Farrell/Richard Ayoade/Jack Savoretti (2024). It’s gritty, gritty, and dark, but Farrell manages to capture the sparkle of Gandolfini’s Tony Soprano charm.
Amazing is the right word
There’s a similarity to The Sopranos, especially in tone. There’s a lot of dark stuff going on in this opening episode, but there are still comedic moments that fit the tone and don’t undermine it. Where do I start with Farrell? I love seeing talented star actors take on roles like this, and the makeup/CGI or whatever exactly they did when they turned him into the Penguin not only passes the eye test, but also looks incredibly realistic.
And Farrell, as an actor, completely immersed himself in this role
There’s always the risk that if the makeup job isn’t good enough, or is just a little off, it’s a complete distraction. In The Penguin, it enhances his performance and the overall quality of the show, because it’s a damn good job. I may be a little biased because he was one of my favorite actors before the show, but I think he’s going to get some well-deserved recognition with this one. I’m never one to immediately tune into new series because I like to watch episodes at a time, but I wanted to see how this one actually turned out.
It didn’t disappoint, in fact, it impressed me
